Intimate Wedding at Proximity Hotel – Andy + Bridgette

With every wedding that I’m a part of, certain things stick out in my mind. Sometimes it’s the food, the way the groom reacted when he saw his bride, the insane moves seen on a dance floor or even being totally surprised by interpretive dancers coming down the aisle when I was prepared for the bride and her dad. (True story. It happened!) But the one thing that I think will always be at the forefront of my mind about this wedding, was that Bridgette chose her wedding location and date solely based on my availability. No kidding!

Bridgette and I went to school together for a while in middle school but hadn’t really kept in touch very much… We saw each other from time to time, but it wasn’t until I photographed one of her best friend’s wedding a couple of years ago that we really got to catch up a little! She had flown in from NY with her boyfriend Andy for the wedding and we had a great time talking about the “good ol’ days” of middle school and all that goes along with that. Fast forward bit, and all of the sudden Bridgette is telling me “I’m engaged and we’re getting married in November! Please tell me I can fly you to NY to capture it!” I didn’t have the space to fly out for a wedding that month, so she decided to bring her wedding here to the Triad and have it on a Sunday evening to accommodate my other wedding the previous day!

Now let me tell you this: Want to flatter a wedding photographer? Like REALLY blow them away?! Just tell them you’re willing to move your wedding location and date to make sure they’re there to document it! Call it what you will, but I’m still walking around like I’m THE man because of all this! 🙂

All kidding aside, it was a massive honor to have been so highly regarded for someone’s wedding – especially someone that I knew! It could not have been a better day.

I’m a fan of just about any kind of wedding you want to throw, but there’s something special about small, intimate gatherings. Especially when they’re at a killer hotel and end with a candlelit dinner! (Ever since, I’ve been trying to think of a good excuse to have a candlelit dinner with some friends just for the sake of it! I’ve almost come up with a good excuse… haha)

The day was perfect. Intimate, un-rushed, meaningful, laughter-filled, love-centered and packed with the sweetest moments! I don’t know that it could have been any better!

Bridgette + Andy – thank you both for letting me be a small part of such a special time in your lives! I’ll never forget it!
